Businessman, Taxpayer, Job-Creator: One of Us Fighting for Us

“Reducing taxes, cutting spending, shrinking the size of government must be done. It will take political courage to revitalize our state.

My experience coupled with a proven record of accomplishments makes me the best person to help Governor Chris Christie turn our state away from financial ruin and improve the quality of life here at home.”

Larry Casha of Kinnelon, New Jersey, announces his intention to run for New Jersey State Assembly District 26:

“I am running for the Assembly because New Jersey is faced with serious fiscal problems. During these difficult economic times, our neighbors are losing their jobs and their homes.  The Democrat controlled state legislature has yet to come to grips with the fact that New Jersey needs to stop its runaway spending.  Governor Christie has brought leadership to Trenton and is doing a great job.  But there’s more hard work to be done and the Governor needs the support of like-minded people with job creation experience to help him."

Larry has run a successful business for the past thirty-two years.  During these extremely difficult economic times, he used his years of business experience and is extremely proud of being able to honor his commitment to his employees by not laying anyone off.  It is this business experience that needs to be brought to Trenton.

Larry has been honored to serve as Republican State Committeeman as well as Executive Director and Finance Chair of the Morris County Republican Committee.  In addition, the Borough of Kinnelon granted him the privilege of serving as a Councilman, where he quickly ascended to Council President.  As a member of the municipal finance committee, he was instrumental in shrinking the size of local government by curbing spending and sharing services with neighboring towns.  During his tenure on the council, the municipal tax rate remained essentially flat, increasing only one half of one percent over his entire time on the council.

Platform:  Creating Jobs, Lowering Taxes, Shrinking Government, and Ensuring Fiscal Responsibility to Taxpayers:

Economic Revival:

  • For the past decade New Jersey has been voted one of the least business friendly states in the United States.
  • We need business incentives and a tax structure that brings in new businesses and jobs to our communities.
  • Our taxing policies and regulatory demands must be reduced to keep and attract quality businesses, including the elimination of ineffective and useless agencies to lower local taxes.

Multiple Government Pensions:  Pensions are meant to assist in retirement and should not become a windfall at the taxpayer expense.  No elected official should be permitted to collect multiple government pensions in addition to an elected official’s salary.

Smaller Government:

  • Zero based budgeting review of all agencies and programs.
  • Pare back all spending to basic needs and government functions.
  • Make sure education funds go directly to the children by revamping the school funding formula and shrink the Department of Education bureaucracy.
  • Reduce over-burdensome state mandates and give local elected officials the tools to reduce spending as well as increase incentives to share services.

Term Limits:  Larry believes that public service should not become a career: "I will introduce legislation limiting terms for state elected offices to no more than 10 years.”

Larry also supports Governor Christie's Agenda:

Tax Cuts for All New Jerseyans:  A 10% across the board income tax cut this year for all taxpayers.

    Help for Working Families:  A full restoration of the Earned Income Tax Credit.

    Education Reform:  Bringing the opportunity of a quality education in reach of every child, regardless of zip code.

Bail Reform:  Providing safer neighborhoods by prohibiting bail for violent offenses.
